1. Primary DNS moving to off-network server
We are going to be switching to an external server to handle primary DNS requests: eglin.intersurge.com. Secondary DNS will remain on aviano. This will have several benefits: 1. It will reduce the load on our langley server, which is the current primary DNS host 2. It will provide extra redundancy in the event of an outage 3. It should speed up resolving times across all servers

How does this affect you? That’s the good news – you do not have to do anything, and your site will remain online seamlessly during this transition.

2. New Support Center
We have finally completed the transition to a new support system at http://support.intersurge.com . One of the major benefits of this system is the ability to, once again, submit tickets via email to the support@intersurge.com address. You can also check ticket status online at any time via either ModernBill (https://secure.intersurge.com/~billing/) or registering for a support center account.

Please note: In order to reduce spam which would otherwise clog up the helpdesk and impair response time, we have instituted a challenge-response spam prevention system. This means that before email is allowed through from a specific email address, that address must first reply to a confirmation message generated when you submit a ticket. We have automatically white-listed all email addresses in the modernbill database, so if you send a ticket from the email address you receive invoices at then this does not apply to you.

3. 50% off special
We are proud to announce that starting Friday, September 16, we will be running a 50% off special on all shared hosting accounts, for a limited time only. If you were ever thinking of adding another account or referring a friend, now is a great time to do it!

4. New Site Studio web address
We have changed Site Studio to a more accessible, easier to remember address. The new address is http://sitestudio.intersurge.com:8080 . This will also facilitate an easy transition of Site Studio to our aviano server, which will happen in the coming weeks to alleviate the load on langley.

5. A new face joins the team
We would like to welcome Robert Greenwood, who will serve as a systems administrator and security specialist, to the InterSurge team. >> Aviano outage 9/15/05

We experienced a brief outage on our aviano server this morning, when the server suffered a kernel panic and stopped responding to keyboard commands. Our off-network monitoring service paged us as soon as an outage was confirmed, and we had our data center perform a hard reboot which resolved the problem in ~ 15 min.
